My Sexy Saturday ~ All Shades of Blue Paradise ~ Baron Zaggry Vettura

Sexy Saturday kisses, everyone.

This snippet stars Lady Sheridan and Baron Zaggry. Their love story was my very first erotic romance accepted for publication in 2007. Sher and Zag live in another dimension on a planet-world similar to Earth. However, their world is known as a Blue Planet Realm. And yes, Zag is an absolute sexy hunk—the theme of this MY SEXY SATURDAY.

***Open the door to Blue Paradise ~ an aristocratic world of fiercest passion where every erotic dream comes true.***

Seven paragraphs from the first chapter ~

All Shades of Blue Paradise

Sheridan didn’t blame the women who wanted him, not just for his status or his wealth but for the primal and the aristocratic blend he was as a man, as a lover, the way he made a woman feel.

Pure sensual desire. Pure sensual need. Pure ferocious passion for him.

She waited, knowing that was his cougar-and-prey game with her. She waited, her gaze fondling the burnished waves of his dark mahogany hair, streaked with wild sunlight.

"Sheridan."

The rough grazing purr of his voice made her shiver inside. She met his gaze boldly. Never flee before a cougar. Always stand your ground, even if faced with the most gorgeous eyes she’d ever seen.

Pale emerald, so ice crystalline, his eyes were always startling, always stunning.

"Baron Vettura," she returned, her tone icy cordiality. Sheridan knew her eyes glowed hot. She felt it. She shook back her hair. "It has been a while."

Scene note: Zag and Sheridan attend a dinner hosted by Lady Moehnigua where the guests discuss commerce while enjoying their sexual passions.

All Shades of Blue Paradise

Seven paragraphs ~

Sheridan pressed hot desperate kisses down Zag’s muscle-beautiful torso—remembering, more and more, what she had forced herself to forget, their passions. Her hands stroked downward over the fabric of his pants, stroked over his brutally hard cock.

Feverishly, she kissed him. She stroked, holding his strength with her bound hands. Stroking up and down rhythmically, she pressed hard as she knew he once enjoyed. As he had once allowed, teaching her to touch him.

She stroking-tempted him from his tip to the base of his cock, feeling him stud-harden even more.

“You remember,” he harsh and hoarse blurted the words.

“You make me remember,” she challenged between her kisses, her furious pants of breath.

Zag seized her hands. She gripped his ache-pulsing cock harder. Devil-wicked, he was torn between sweetest ecstasy here, this moment. With her. Or continue his horrible need for her until later, a planned fiercer ecstasy with her.

“Zaggry, you will owe me.” Lady Moehnigua’s coy tone penetrated. Suddenly, he inhaled the pungent odor of a carnal-lessening candle. “You will favor me with the pleasure of you and your slave lover as my dining guests. Soon.”

My Sexy Saturday ~ All Shades of Blue Paradise

All Shades of Blue Paradise

Sexy Saturday kisses, everyone.

Today's snippet offering stars Lady Sheridan and Baron Zaggry. Their love story was my very first erotic romance accepted for publication in 2007, and is set in another world -- what is known as a Blue Realm.

All Shades of Blue Paradise

Seven paragraphs from the first chapter ~

He didn’t speak when she entered. He casually leaned back on his chair, one foot propped up on the dark shining wood of his enormous desk. Potent power and grace, he stood, silently moving to one side.

He motioned to a swivel cushioned chair before his desk. His presence had always made her feel sultry. Once his sultry woman. It was no different now. Her whole body was a sultry sizzle rhythm. She felt it to her core as she approached the chair and sat.

Her legs crossed, she steepled her fingers, watching him pivot. Lithe, powerful as a cougar, he returned to his chair. She’d seen the media’s view of him, unavoidable in her ‘horse show’ circle. Confronted with him, her breath demanded freedom from her body.

Like a cougar, the way he moved, his fierce intense nature, that was how she’d always seen him. Cougar in male beautiful form. Cougar spirit incarnated to man.

Goddess behold! She had loved him.

Sheridan didn’t blame the women who wanted him, not just for his status or his wealth but for the primal and the aristocratic blend he was as a man, as a lover, the way he made a woman feel.

Pure sensual desire. Pure sensual need. Pure ferocious passion for him.

Special Guest Solara Gordon

This week on Title Magic we're featuring Solara Gordon, fellow Shapeshifter Seductions writer and author of the new Siren title, Hot for Torrey. Take it away, Solara!

1. What got you started as a writer?

Always enjoyed reading and stories telling as a child. Creativity seemed to be something that came naturally to me. I enjoyed the exercise and ideas that flowed out with each venture. It wasn't until I started writing poetry (had a few obscure pieces published) and journaling that I realized how much I thrived at this and loved doing it. Now I understand it is part of who I am and something I need to do.

2. Do you have a writing schedule?

Schedule? Did someone say schedule? Do you have your muse on a time clock? Mine visits when and where she wants. Priscilla, aka Pris gets thanked every morning for being part of my world and invited to come along with me to my day job as well as my commute or whatever else I am doing. Does she always follow instructions? NO! Neither does my writing. I often find time in the evening after my day job. Usually once I am into a story I keep working away with a beginning, middle, and end. Then when it starts to lag I know I've got to break out a deadline to encourage me to see the story through and tell me the rest of it.

3. Plotter or pantser?

Pantser for the most part. If I plot out the story, I've told it to me already and I've lost interest in it. Thus why I don't even do a synopsis until the book is done and ready for submission. I do plot high points once I'm sure I'm into the story and know my characters well. All the work a plotter does prior I do bits and pieces of as I write. I prefer to let my characters tell me their story with Pris's help than to force them to fit some niche. Sometimes easier said than done. I may have to carefully define my characters and who they are to keep in line with the story I am telling/writing.

4. Reading habits growing up?

Voracious reader. Mysteries, teen romance, science fiction, fantasy, and mainstream literature.

5. What inspired this story?

Hot for Torrey came from a discussion about the younger generation and their hook-up dating vs friends with benefits and growing into long term relationships or learning about themselves as they as adults coming of age. Also Blue Sky Riders has a song called Little Victories that inspired the basic premise of finding a part of ourselves that keeps us going on after the breakup of a relationship or even a part of life.

6. Any favorite genres/subgenres?

Paranormal, Paranormal Erotic Romance, Erotic Romance, Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi romance

7. Anything else you'd like to share (favorite foods, TV shows, time of year, etc.)

I don't watch much TV. I do it for a quick relaxation if I've been super busy with my day job or other things going on. My To Be Read pile has grown and I need to take time to weed through it. Somewhere in between Pris and I penning our next tale, I might get a few pages in. Few is the key word.

Thanks Pat for having me.

Special Guest Blogger: AJ Jarrett

I want to thank Pat for having me on her blog today. We’re both fellow Siren authors but today she is letting me talk about a book I have being released through Silver Publishing. It’s titled Set Me On Fire and it revolves around two firefighters and the struggles they have to overcome to have their own happy ending. It’s part of the Silver’s Men In Uniform Anthology and I have to admit when I saw the submission call the first group of men I thought of were firefighters.

Now, there are several jobs where men wear a uniform such as law enforcement and military but firefighters are hands down my favorite group of individuals to ogle and daydream about. So for me given the opportunity to write a story that combines two of my most favorite things, firefighters and men loving men, was a treat not a chore. The words flew out my fingertips lightening quick and when I was done and reread my work, I have to admit I was emotional right along with my characters. Nothings ever certain in life and we as people need to grab onto happiness when we can and the characters in my story have to come to realize to love a person is to not change them but to love them in spite of their difference. It’s the ride that is always the funniest part about falling in love and I recommend everyone buys a ticket at least once in their life.

Once again a big thanks to Pat for letting come over today and bend your all’s ears for a little bit.

Blurb
Kelly Lynch wanted to become a firefighter to help people, but with his accident prone nature his boss, Nate Anderson, thinks he’s an utter fool. Kelly never planned to fall for Nate but now that he has, he realizes loving is easy; understanding and compromise are hard.

Nate has been attracted to Kelly since his first day at the station house. Watching the younger man day in and day out is frustrating. Kelly’s latest stunt almost got him killed and Nate fears losing the man of his dreams.

Will Nate’s demanding ways cause the embers of their love to die out? Or will Kelly prove he has what it takes to be with Nate, at work and in the bedroom?

Story Excerpt
"God, I swear if you get me out of this mess I promise to listen and follow orders for the rest of my life, or at least make the effort to try," Kelly prayed aloud as he crawled, belly down, across the dirty floor. He was doing his best to see through the smoke-filled room but still couldn't find where he'd entered.

Kelly scooted a little more, using touch more than sight to navigate his way through the smoky haze and chunks of debris. He had separated from the team of men he'd come into the burning building with. A choice he now regretted immensely.

He had made a stupid move, but he could have sworn he'd heard someone cry out for help. A completely bonehead move to run off without telling anyone. One of the first things they taught you when you became a firefighter, never leave your team, or at least partner with someone else, but never go off on your own.

But no, he thought he knew better and wanted to be the hero and save the poor individual stuck in this fire pit. Now he was starting to wonder if he'd just imagined he heard the cry for help.

"I'm so fucked." Kelly rested his helmet-covered head on the ground and then proceeded to bang his head on the hard floor. It was useless, he was trapped.

"Lynch."

Kelly sat up at the sound of someone yelling his name. What direction had the voice come from? He couldn't tell. The sound was so faint compared to all the hissing and crackling noises of the fire in full blaze all around him.

"God damn it, Lynch, where are you?"

He heard the shout again, only louder. Kelly felt his way around the floor until he came face to face with a boot. He started to look up when large, glove-covered hands grabbed the back of his jacket.

"What do you think you were doing, you dumb shit? You're lucky we noticed you missing."

Kelly could tell by the size of the man dragging him out of the entryway that it was Luke Parsons, one of the biggest guys in the house. He may be a big beefy guy, but he was super nice, and Kelly couldn't have been more grateful Luke found him and not the lieutenant of their station house.

"I'm sorry but I thought I heard someone call out for help." Kelly grabbed at Parsons' hand, still attached to Kelly's jacket, dragging him along. "Please, Luke, I know I heard someone," he pleaded as he tried to pull himself free of Luke's hold.

The fire raged through an abandoned building in the East Bottoms of downtown Kansas City. While the only people in this building were more than likely homeless, they were still people who needed to be saved.

"Are you sure, kid?" Kelly nodded enthusiastically. "Okay then let's see what we can find. We don't have much time; this building is going up faster than a hay bale."

"Okay."

As Kelly followed Luke back into the room, the sound of a faint cry grabbed both their attention. Luke pushed Kelly behind him as he made his way toward the small whimpering sounds. As they got closer, Kelly saw the slight frame of a man huddled in the corner. Luke bent down and snatched the man up in his arms.

Luke looked to Kelly. "Lead the way. Follow the way we just came and you'll see the crew in the hallway."

Kelly navigated through the smoke and falling ceiling tiles toward the exit. As he reached the doorway the hall was empty. He turned back to Luke. "They're not here." Panic started to eat away at his composure.

"Shit," Luke shouted. "Here, kid, take my radio and let the guys know we're coming out with another man in tow. They need to have paramedics ready for this guy."

"You know the way out?" Luke nodded as Kelly took the offered radio and lifted his face shield. "This is Lynch and Parsons. We got a survivor and we're coming out."

"Copy that, son. Make your way out fast. We just got the order to clear the building and let it burn. Move your asses now."

He looked back to Luke. "You get that?"

"Yep. Head out the door and the stairs are on the right. We need to go up one flight then a little ways down we’ll come to a set of double doors and that will take us outside." Kelly watched as Luke hefted the man higher on his shoulder. “Start moving.”

Kelly nodded his understanding and made his way toward freedom. Times like this he questioned why he wanted to be a firefighter. No one in his family was one, so it wasn't about carrying on a legacy or some shit.

As he pushed the door open with his shoulder, he was greeted by sunlight streaking through the smoky clouds rolling off the burning building. He looked back toward Luke, the man he was carrying appeared passed out over his shoulder. That was why Kelly had chosen this profession. He wanted to make a difference. Have a job he could be proud of.

"Over here."

Kelly and Luke walked right over to the ambulance and deposited the man with the paramedics. They then made their way over to the engine where the rest of the crew stood watching the fire burn. Kelly flipped up his face mask and removed his helmet. Then he took off his jacket, tucked the heavy material under his arm, and stared up at the building. If Luke hadn't found him, Kelly would be one crispy critter right about now.

"What the fuck were you thinking?"

Someone grabbed Kelly by the shoulders and threw him up against the side of the truck, causing him to bump the back of his head hard against the metal door. When his vision cleared he saw Nate Anderson, lieutenant of station house sixteen, standing right in front of him with the attitude Kelly had hoped to avoid.

"Hey, Nate, back the fuck up." Luke pushed himself between him and Nate. "If it wasn't for Kelly, that man over there would be dead."

Nate took a step back and looked toward the ambulance where the man was being triaged. Kelly could see the vein pulsing at Nate's temple. He wasn't happy and Kelly knew he would be hearing all about that unhappiness later.
Nate looked back at him over Luke's shoulder. "You and I will talk about this back at the station house." Nate pointed a finger at him and then walked away.

He was so screwed. Every time he made a mistake Nate made sure to tell him how and why he screwed up. Granted, it was Nate's job to go over the mistakes they made so they could learn from their errors, but his lectures were becoming a broken record. Kelly wasn't looking forward to this discussion.

Featured Author Stacey Espino

I’m taking a break this week to help a fellow Siren author celebrate her writing anniversary. Stacey Espino (aka Winona Wilder on her M/M books) has been publishing for two years come March, and doing a damn good job, too. I’ve read both shapeshifter and cowboy stories from her, and they steamed up every mirror in my house. The gal knows how to write a lusty love story!

She’s fast, too. We’ve got a forum over on Absolute Write where we trumpet our sales, and if Stacey’s not on there at least once a month I wonder if she hurt her hand or something. And with no drop in quality or entertainment value, either. As soon as I figure out how she does it, I hope to become just as successful.

Anyway, to mark her publishing anniversary, Stacey’s holding a scavenger hunt. All you have to do is look for this:

Well, actually, that’s it. I’m not all that tech-savvy, so I’m not even going to bother trying to hide the icon. This is it. You just found it on the Title Magic site. Consider this one a freebie, and enjoy your Kindle.

That icon will be hidden (better than this one, I hope) at the websites/blogs below starting February 23rd. Send an email with the exact location of the icon from all seven hiding places, along with your name to staceyespino@gmail.com

The winner will be chosen March 23rd. You can choose a new Amazon Kindle or $100.00 PayPal Cash if you don't need an e-reader.

Good hunting, folks!

And now, Stacey, I believe you owe me a story about M/M shifter cowboys. Specifically, werehorses. One's the rider, one's the ridee. Remember, if you don't write it, I will, and I don't think anyone really wants to see what I'm liable to come up with.

Stacey's Latest, now available at http://www.bookstrand.com/surrounded-by-wolves

[Siren LoveXtreme Forever: Erotic Paranormal Ménage Romance, M/F/M/M/M/M, werewolves, spanking, HEA]

Cassidy moves out of the only city she's ever known and heads to the distant town of Climax, British Columbia. Her grandfather left her an estate, and she lined up a job in the small mining town.

She arrives and discovers that her inheritance is nothing more than a run-down shack, and the men she's supposed to work with are drop-dead gorgeous. It's impossible to resist the advances of the men in Climax, especially when she's never felt so isolated.

Garret is the foreman of the Gregor Copper Mine, but also alpha to a small pack of wolf shifters. Recent events in Climax have made life complicated—loggers are trying to encroach on their land, one of their pack mates is missing, and their new female dispatcher is a mouthwatering distraction.

When Cassidy is threatened, the men band together, realizing the little human is more important to them than they ever imagined.

Note: There is NO sexual relationship/touching among the men.

A Siren Erotic Romance

ADULT EXCERPT
“You’re nice and tight, baby doll. Even better than I imagined you’d feel wrapped around my cock.” Having a woman’s bare flesh, moist from lovemaking, pressed against his was something he savored. She smelled like a woman, sweet and feminine—both things he rarely got to enjoy around pack mates and working at the mine. He inhaled deeply at her neckline, tempted to sink his incisors into her flesh.

“What’s the matter?” she asked breathlessly. He’d stopped pumping into her, shocked by his own thoughts. How many females had he bedded over the years? Too many to count. But he’d never had the desire to mate, to mark one of them as his. It must have been due to the territorial threat Evan presented. He still stood to the side, a low growl rumbling from his chest.

“Nothing, darlin’. Do you need it harder? Faster?”

“Both.”

She hugged his shoulders, smoothing her small hands over his back. When she lifted her head off the mattress, seeking a kiss, he turned away. Kissing was an intimacy he avoided. He was sure it would kill him to offer himself in such a way. It was so much easier to just have sex for sex’s sake, no complications, no guilt, no emotion. Rather he sank his head to her neckline and began to fuck her good and hard, his forearms curved under her shoulders. The bed rocked and she cried out with each upthrust.

“Travis…” she cried.

“Bring her to a precipice so I can join in,” said Patrick.

He fucked Cassidy harder, suckling her earlobe and then tonguing her erogenous zone. She was peaking. He could feel her pussy spasm radically around his cock. “Get some bacon fat,” he managed to mutter, trying to keep himself from spending inside her just yet. He wanted this night to last. As difficult as it was to admit it, there was something different about his human girl. Something intangible.

When Patrick returned, he rolled them to their sides, holding one of her legs over his hip to make room for his friend. It would feel immeasurably better having another cock share her body. He could already imagine the squeeze and Cassidy’s cries as she climaxed harder than she ever had.
“Take her pussy from behind, Red. You need it.” He slipped out of her and assisted her to her hands and knees. Travis poked his head under her arm and sucked her swaying breasts as Patrick thrust his ready cock into her pussy, doggy-style. She screamed, a cry of ecstasy, unadulterated pleasure. He slipped away to avoid being crushed by their violent movements.
Evan couldn’t stay away. He climbed onto the head of the bed where Cassidy clenched the bedding in both fists to keep herself grounded as Patrick fucked her like a stallion from behind. Beads of sweat rolled down his face, spilling onto her pale back. Travis watched as the other man licked his finger and then brought it to her nether hole. He held her hip with his free hand and impaled her ass slowly. At first she jolted out of her lust-filled haze and tensed. But Patrick stilled, only pressing further in measured increments. Her breathing became more labored, and her hips swayed as if inviting him to continue.

“Help her out, Evan. Give her something to amuse herself with.”

Evan didn’t hesitate to tilt her chin up. Her wild eyes connected with his briefly, but shifted to the large cock poised near her face. “Will you?” he asked.

She licked her lips and then opened her mouth for him, her body jerking each time Patrick fucked her. Cassidy sucked half his length, supporting one hand on his thigh. Her eyes were closed as she lost herself in the act, engorging herself on Evan’s thick meat.

He kissed her back, admiring the feminine curve, grace, and beauty. Patrick had two fingers deep in her ass as he worked her cunt. She’d accepted the intrusion, no scent of fear lingering around her.

It was time. Travis lay on the bed, his erection waving freely as the bed jostled. Patrick pulled free, continuing to stoke his cock as he knelt on the bed. Evan cupped her head in both hands now that he had her to himself. She shifted her body until sitting on her knees, giving full attention to his cock, the thick length disappearing down her throat and reemerging, over and over.

Release Day!

It’s release day! Legacy officially goes on sale today. This is my fifth book with Siren/BookStrand and I’m still jumping up and down like I did with the first one. Like eating chocolate or falling in love, it’s a feeling that never gets old.

I’ve already blogged about several aspects of this one, so here’s the recap: Legacy was a happy accident. I was writing what I thought would be a standalone, Belonging, when I got an idea for a sequel. This book made me stretch my writing muscles, because I’ve never written a ménage before. I got to flex my length muscles and mystery-writing muscles while I was at it as well. A London Werewolf in America was a mystery too, but it wasn’t as long as this one. Plus I got to hang out with Wallace and Jeremy some more, and give them an extra-happy ending in addition to the first one. Given what I put them through, I suppose they had it coming.

I think this is it for the boys, though. Their little flock has been through enough. Time to settle down and raise those kids Colleen always wanted. This isn’t quite the end of this “universe,” however. I’ve got a couple other things I’m working on, but eventually there should be one more story to round out the trilogy. After all, the victims of the vampire conspiracy are still running around out there, and the Preacher isn’t the type of man to let loose ends dangle for long.

And now, the commercial portion of our blog.

BLURB

Colleen Brenner doesn’t believe in vampires, until she’s attacked by one. Two men come to her aid: Wallace Hamilton, a slayer, and his lover, Jeremy Teach. The pair take her into their home and under their protection. It turns out vampires have targeted not only Colleen, but all the children from the commune she grew up in. What are the monsters after?

As the three delve into Colleen’s repressed memories, she finds herself drawn to both of the men guarding her. Jeremy is human, but Wallace is a vampire himself, and Colleen’s growing attraction to him is countered by her mistrust of what he is. Then their investigation uncovers a decades-old evil tied to Colleen’s shrouded past. She herself may not be as human as she’s been led to believe. Can their newfound love survive the truth of Colleen’s inhuman legacy, or is it—and Colleen’s soul—doomed?

EXCERPT

Balancing the grocery bags, she fumbled the door open. Her psychic prickle clamped down on the greeting she’d been about to call out. Colleen sensed Wallace in the kitchen. If she strained, she could hear faint noises that had nothing to do with pre-dinner prep.

Jeremy’s kitchen, Wallace awake. Easy to add two and two.

Courtesy demanded she leave them alone. She could go upstairs, linger in the shower, and make a ton of noise coming back down. Then she caught Wallace’s growl and decided, screw courtesy. She wouldn’t deny she enjoyed watching them together. Wallace encouraged it, in fact. Freaking undead exhibitionist. With a mischievous smile lighting her face, Colleen set her grocery bags on the floor and crept to the kitchen doorway.

Two pots, a knife, and a bag of carrots lay abandoned on the counter. Colleen’s imagination set the scene—Jeremy at the counter, his back to the doorway, Wallace stalking his unsuspecting prey with his uncanny silent tread. Perhaps Jeremy had a moment of warning before his capture—a hint of scent, a whisper of lips against his neck. Or perhaps he was as attuned to the vampire’s presence as she was and always knew when his lover was near.

They’d ended up beside the kitchen table. Wallace stood behind Jeremy with his arms clasped tight around the human’s waist. His lips nuzzled Jeremy’s neck. Jeremy leaned into the embrace, his eyes shut, humming that low, throaty purr of his that always turned her on. No doubt Jeremy had loosened his shirt collar himself. His enjoyment of the vampire’s attentions made itself boldly known against the fabric of his slacks. Colleen stared at that tantalizing bulge, right up until the moment Wallace bit into Jeremy’s neck.

It wasn’t anything like the violent, melodramatic attacks depicted in vampire movies. His fangs sank into Jeremy’s flesh right over the mark on his neck in a smooth, unhurried movement that was gentle as a kiss. Perhaps this was a kiss to Wallace. His throat rippled with a single swallow before he lifted his mouth. He laved his tongue across the bite, as tender as a mother cat with her kitten. Not so much as a drop of blood escaped it. Jeremy melted against him with a whimper of pure bliss.

Colleen’s gut dropped. This was so wrong in so many ways. Yet everything about Wallace’s actions, even the bite, said love.

Too late, she remembered Wallace could hear her heartbeat.

Guest Blogger ~ Destiny Blaine

EXPLICIT WARNING! If you ain't old enough (18) to belly up to the poker table or the bar, get lost, little dude or dudette.
A mighty big welcome to my fellow Siren and Bookstrand author, Destiny Blaine. This little lady is so high energy I just cain't keep up with her.
Seriously, Destiny is an impressive multi-published author and has an absolutely amazing hand with promo. Her Yahoo group, Just Another Paranoromal Monday is fun, and a great opportunity for readers to find the books they want, and a great way for authors to show off their books with blurbs and excerpts, and, of course, the chance to answer any questions. While my loop cyber-social skills aren't too impressive, hey, I'm learning and having a good time. And getting a chance to, maybe, find readers interested in my e-novels.
If we're all really nice to Destiny, she may even offer us a gambling tip or two. Personally, I'm absolutely intrigued with her casino knowledge and background as a gambler. Not to mention the rest of her colorful life. Wow! Thanks for being with us today, Destiny.
I want to first thank Title Magic and Savanna Kougar for allowing me to join in and blog here today. I’m glad to have the opportunity to spend the first day of May with all of you! Savanna and I are fellow authors at Siren Publishing and we’ll both be published by BookStrand too!
I’m really excited to blog with you today because I have some phenomenal news to share. Winning Virgin Blood just released from Siren Publishing on April 28th (http://www.sirenpublishing.com/destinyblaine/). Winning Virgin Blood, for those of you out there who like paranormal, actually motivated and initially inspired the concept of a new paranormal loop author Ann Cory and I just started. Just Another Paranormal Monday operates as a Monday-only chat loop for readers, writers, and pretty much anyone who loves paranormal.
Since writing in the paranormal genre is still somewhat new to me, I’ve been thrilled about the receptive audience to paranormal as well as urban fantasy because Winning Virgin Blood incorporates both urban fantasy and paranormal elements. For those of you who’ve read Bewitching Bite, you know the Bewitching series (Resplendence Publishing) also includes a few urban fantasy elements. However, the stories are definitely different.
Winning Virgin Blood combines my love of casino gambling (and a Las Vegas setting) with vampire paranormal elements. The series kicks off with Orlando Spenser, and while I love Orlando, I have to say, his brother just rocks my world! You’ll meet him in Winning Virgin Blood and that’s where your lust for him will begin—mine did!
The Winning Virgin Series was contracted by
Siren Publishing (www.sirenpublishing.com) and the Spensers will go through a lot of trials and tribulations just to protect those they love. Naturally, they’ll have to win the affection of those they want first. That’s always the fun part.
If you’re a history buff, and I am, check out the Bewitching Series. Part of the Blending Bloodlines titles, Bewitching Bite was included in the Shivers print anthology and the concept of Matilda and Armand’s story was something I hope you’ll find a little different. An urban fantasy/paranormal, the story combines historical research into an urban fantasy while delving into the past life of one of the most notorious of all vampires—The Blood Countess (referred to as Elizabeth or Erzsebet Bathory).
Matilda and Armand will be transformed and revisit the past life of Erzsebet Bathory and the one vampire Erzsebet could never control, so to speak. I won’t ruin it for you because the story of Matilda and Armand’s hike into the past really comes into clear focus in the second story releasing soon—Bewitching Purpose.
I’m a fickle writer and love to write in all genres. Paranormal and western erotic stories seem to have my focus right now but I’m a gambler at heart. I’ll typically write something, at any given time, about casino gambling or sportsbetting.
Casino Player is a prime example. Whispers Publishing took a chance on this little short story and just this year, the story won the 2007 Best Romance Short Story Readers Poll Category at Preditors and Editors. Whispers also decided to take a gamble on the Unspoken Series and later this year, Unspoken Truths will release and I have to tell you—the ultimate bad boy alpha-male will be found there.
This brings me to another point. I love strong alpha-male heroes. I find, and I guess most of you who read and write paranormal would agree, some of the best bad boys in the world will literally leap off the pages of a paranormal romance but it isn’t the only genre where sexy-hot rogues are found.
I have to share a little secret with you—the other two places to find the strong alpha males we all love to dream about are often found in westerns and erotic gambling romances. I really believe they are and maybe I know from experience. I grew up on a farm and die-hard gambling runs in my blood too so I’ve met enough bad-boys to know that these two genres have them! I write those fellows straight into the bedrooms of any unsuspecting heroine who will have them. And sure, there are several who don’t want them there!
As a side note, today I believe the best of the "real-life" bad boys are found in a casino. I’m a recreational casino player who spends a lot of time in the sportsbooks and around the tables so believe me, I know what I’m talking about. Read Unspoken Truths when it comes out and you’ll see what I mean.
Until then, take a closer look at Orlando and Almonzo Spenser in Winning Virgin Blood and the Winning Virgin Series. Then, sprint to the nearest casino and listen in on some of the conversation. It’s the one place I’ll go whenever I need dialogue motivation for my characters.
Right now, most of my books and stories share one common factor—the alpha-male. I only have one western erotic story out now. In case you want to take a peak, sneak over to eXtasy Books at
www.extasybooks.net and check out Beyond the Valley. It’s number six right now on their Best Seller list.
I’m still hoping someone, somewhere will tell me where I can ride, I mean find (yes, that’s what I meant), a cowboy who looks like Jonathan Woodwine. (Remember, if you do, tell him I have his rope or his saddle for that matter). Yes, I like to tease. You will too when you see him!
Thank you again for blogging with me today! I hope you’ll take time to stop by and visit my website at
www.destinyblaine.com or stop in and visit with Catherine Chernow over at my blog today (http://www.destinyblaine.blogspot.com/). You will also find the lovely and very talented Savanna Kougar blogging with us on May 12th and 13th.
Until we meet again, keep looking sexy—and reading it hot!
Destiny Blaine
P.S. Enter my contest today! It’s easy! Since I want to be sure everyone has an opportunity to win one of the few free copies of Winning Virgin Blood, I’m running a contest here today. Post a comment here and let me know something about your favorite books or even a favorite alpha-male, and you’ll be entered to win Winning Virgin Blood!
I’ll draw one winner later today. Hurry! This will be one of the very few free copies of Winning Virgin Blood!

Coffee Time Magic

No, we're not talking Starbucks here. Although, I must admit a weakness for their grocery store mocha blend. And the ice cream ain't bad either. Rather yummy luxurious, actually. However, if coffee doesn't have a lot of chocolate and cream in it, forget about it.
Okay, Title Magicians, I'm posting because my name is on the schedule and I didn't know if our ATIV Winner was posting today. With my absolute blessing, please feel free to blog today, Helen.
In lieu of anything else I'll share a snippet of my virgin review from Coffee Time Romance. Nope, you're not getting the number of steaming cups, unless you check out the full review. I'm going with the positive caffeine-happy approach here.

"This story is very erotic and sensual, with a ferocious carnal appetite that can never be appeased. The syntax is extraordinary, and flows with an almost poetic feel. I do feel, however, that the constant sexual pleasures are somewhat overpowering to the plot line of the story. This being said, I very much want to read Part II, the continuation of Sheridan and Zag’s story. Ms. Kougar has an amazing way with words that very few authors could pull off, and she does so brilliantly."

Personal Connections by Guest Blogger, Renee Knowles

Welcome to our Wednesday guest blogger, and my fellow Siren author, Renee Knowles. Renee and I were newbies together. And, boy, am I glad. Her warmth and intelligence on our author loop was helpful and inspiring to me. Not to mention she guided me through an editing snafu I was clueless about.
Renee’s first e-novel with Siren Publishing, Going Topless, will be in print soon, and has earned three 5-Star reviews. Currently, she has a new erotic romance contemporary series called, Pleasure, Inc., contracted with Siren and a regency historical contracted with the Wild Rose Press.
Kinda impressive, isn’t it?!
Okay, I stole this bio from her website. But, why re-invent the writing wheel?
Renee lives in Northern Colorado with her husband and a view of the Rocky Mountains out of her window. (How cool is that?) Renee has traveled all over the world, living in both Europe and Asia. She has also visited Amsterdam twice, the setting for her debut book, Going Topless. Her favorite place to travel to is Italy, and her dream is to own a vacation home there.

Personal Connections by Renee Knowles

I just returned from a fabulous writer’s conference. Aren’t conferences the best? The entire weekend was rejuvenating, fun, and full of great information. I totally enjoy these events. Everybody seems to "get" you there. There’s so much positive energy in the room, and everyone loves to talk about my favorite subject: writing. Although, by the time you’re done, you are tired, have sore feet, and are mentally exhausted. Then it’s time to unwind and take a day or two for yourself.
One thing I found interesting is all the talk from agents and editors at this conference was about personal connections and networking. They were touting the benefits of meeting someone and making that real connection. According to one agent, the majority of her clients came through networking. And to all the agents and editors, this made a difference when it came to taking on projects. Of course, our writing is always the main priority and what will sell us in the end. But finding a way to get noticed is important as well.
This was great news for me as I was teaching a workshop on networking, and after all that editor talk about it, my class was full. Coming from a small business background, I’ve always been a fan of connecting. I’ve met some of my best friends and best business partners this way.
I do think this is a subject writers need to consider. Networking is key to getting your foot in the door. This can be at a writer’s conference, or at your local bookstore, or even at the dry cleaner’s. Everywhere you go there is potential to meet a reader, a bookstore manager, or just a new friend.
I often hear from writers, when I teach my networking class, that they might be shy or just not comfortable in crowds. That is true of a lot of us, I think. As writers, we tend to want to sit home in our sweats and write. (I know I do!) But, forcing ourselves out of our comfort zone actually helps us to renew our writing energy. It gives us a new purpose, and a new zing to our prose.
I know I certainly met some great new friends at this conference, as well as a possible professional connection. So, I guess it’s time to get back to writing. If I don’t have anything to submit, I guess it won’t matter how much I network. But at least now, I’m going back to my writing with a renewed frame of mind and a newfound energy.

Hugs to all,
Renee

First Magic Kiss of Spring

Ah, yes, yesterday, the wearing of the green ~ and the first magic kiss of spring for me. The wee leprechauns are dancing jigs around their pots o’ gold, laughing like naughty fiends as the humans greedily seek them out, following the proverbial rainbow. Call it too much corn beef and cabbage, or the misty enchantment of St. Patty’s day still coiling around me...like all those snakes chased off the emerald isle...but the fanciful lore of the Irish, of Shamrocks has always tickled and teased my imagination. Having some Irish roots doesn’t hurt, either.
For a deeper perspective, the wearing of the green, or the wearing of Spring, signals the emergence of new growth, a revitalization of the land for planting. And signals for all of us ~ it is time to revitalize our lives, to begin anew. This theme is continued by our traditional celebration of Easter. Eggs, new life. Bunnies, chocolate or the little furry hopping critters ~ quite happy to regenerate their kind with nests full of baby bunnies. *If only chocolate would magically renew.*

In the spirit of new beginnings, and in the spirit of kissing, definitely a favorite romantic activity of mine, I asked Renee Lyons, founder of the new e-publishing company, Lyrical Press, Inc., to blog with us today.
Hello everyone. Savanna was kind enough to allow me the privilege of hijacking Title Magic and write a bit about mine and my husband's venture, Lyrical Press, Inc. I think, coming from the other end of the pen, so to speak, we have a fairly good idea about what authors want in a publishing house (I write under the name Rene Lyons, although I have recently retired from writing to devote more time to Lyrical). A solid and fair contract. To be treated with respect. Good and hard-working editors and publishers who are personable and professional and willing
to work just as hard as our authors to turn out quality books. Appealing covers an author can be proud to 'show off'. And most of all, on-time payment of royalties. These things can be banked on at Lyrical. We want
everyone to have an amazing experience with us and will work ourselves
to the bone to deliver on that promise.
Frank, Emma (our Editor-In-Chief) and I are shameless fans of American
Idol. One morning Emma and I were brainstorming about a contest. We were
also chatting about the previous night's Idol show. Next thing we knew,
Lyrical Idol materialized. Okay, so it was more the brainchild of
Emma...but I was at least part of that conversation! What came of
bouncing ideas back and forth was Lyrical Idol: Season One. Best First
Kiss Contest.
Each entry must be limited to a 350 or less word count, contain a 3 word
tag to describe the characters and a slight alteration to set the scene
up. All entries must be sent in by April 5th. The best entries (think
first-round judging done by Simon, Paula and Randy) will be posted
unedited on the Lyrical Press, Inc. blog, where we will open judging to
the readers on April 15th. Yes. The readers. *insert evil laughter here*
The winner will receive a contract with Lyrical Press, Inc!
Savanna asked what appeals to me in a paranormal romance. That's simple. We'd love a Gothic/dark ghost or vampire story to get lost in. Something that will shut out the 'real' world and transport the reader to a different world. We'd love richly fleshed out characters and a detailed world that leaps off the page. We'd also love anything that has to do with faeries or elves. Yes, elves. If we're going paranormal, why not shift to the side a bit and go magical as well! My husband has an aunt from Ireland and her accent captivates me. To get a submission set on the Emerald Isle that involves some of their amazing folklore would be a dream come true. Oh! And did I mention selkies? Yes. We'd love to get a story about those Scottish creatures as well, as you rarely come across them.
We're also set to host a second contest. This one involves a cover I created that has no book to go with it. It's a Gothic/Medieval cover and we'd love to get our hands on a book to fit it. So, if anyone is writing an historical set in the medieval age.... ;)
Savanna, and all the ladies at Title Magic, thank you for allowing me to talk a while with your readers.

Thank you, Renee, for blogging with us. I'm excited about what Lyrical Press, Inc. has to offer. And I love that cover! The details are below for the ‘first kiss’ contest. This could be your big chance at that first contract.

Stunned, she asked, "What… the bloody hell… was that?"

On a personal magical note (Thank you, Sparkles, our fairy resident), I just learned my futuristic 2012 romance, When a Good Angel Falls, is scheduled to be released late in 2008 by Siren-Bookstrand Publishing. Wahooo! Now there’s a good Spring beginning.

Open the Door to Blue Paradise

Enter the World of the Blue Pearl Moon on March 10, Monday. All Shades of Blue Paradise will be available from Siren Publishing.
An invitation ~ Open the door to Blue Paradise...
Excerpt from All Shades of Blue Paradise ~ Savanna Kougar
~ "Lady Sheridan Kayla Woadeir," Clarence intoned in his best aristocratic voice. A broad smile broke over his face, brightening his countenance to near jolly. He widened the door, inviting her entrance.
She stepped into the cobalt and pearl foyer, smiling in return. "How are you, Clarence?"
"Sunny azure days ahead now, Lady Sheridan. He’s up in the grand office. Go on. I’ll ring up your arrival."
Her high heels clicking on the alabaster brilliant floor, Sheridan watched her image in the nouveau shimmer panels. The panels reflected the immense entry room’s light creating a crystalline ambiance.
Sheridan had resorted to dressing in the way he used to passion smolder over. She had no idea if that was still true.
Sapphire blue, gleaming sapphire. The luxury satin dress fit her curves, bared her arms, bared her legs from the knee down to her matching high heels. The pearls around her throat matched the moon’s color of last evening and provided a tiny touch of comfort.
Sliding her fingers along her pearls, Sheridan moved up the long curving sweep of stairs, low steps designed for a woman. Butterflies battled to escape her stomach once she stood at the top on the wine red carpet.
Keeping her feet moving, she glided toward the open office door, as if she moved inside a pocket of air. Reality seemed a horizon away.
"It has been a while." ~

March Madness and Magic

Red Lioness Magic – with the release of my first e-novel, a perfect description for the month of March for me. And we have a winner, a new Dorchester author. American Title IV has been decided, the readers' choice to be announced in Romantic Times magazine. Congratulations to both finalists. Opportunity is blowing your way, fast and ferocious as a March wind.
Okay, okay, I confess. Heaving an enormous sigh, I cross my arms over my heaving bosom (insert your favorite bodice ripper heroine here)...okay, this picture, the God of War from Xena, Warrior Princess – and this blog is a gift to myself, not a picture of a hero from one of my novels.
I’m an Aries, and soon good ole’ Sol will leave the dreaming-creative sign of Pisces, to shine it’s radiance in the pioneering-innovative sign of Aries, ruled by Mars energy. Think of the Spring Equinox as the portal. Yep, the sun will explode on top of my natal sun, or where the sun was at the time of my birth. So, why wouldn’t I, being a red-blooded, ‘Mars Red’ woman, be hankerin’ over that smoldering hunk o’ fiery lust and love, the God of War – the Greek Ares or the Roman Mars. Or, better yet, the actor, Kevin Tod Smith, tragically no longer with us (March 16, 1963–February 15, 2002).
Hmmm...March 16...the month of March being named after the Roman god, Mars...a bit of cosmic coincidence? I dare think not. More like the Fates wove those gold and silver threads in a destiny realized, a depiction of the god Ares for modern times. A gift for the modern TV audience. For those of us starving, soul-desperate for more than the god technology has become in our world. Yes, a gift from the grand cosmos.
But...confession time again, most bad boys don’t do it for me, but then, neither do most ‘good guys’. Just a few bad boys light my passionate fires, spin me to wildfire, then blaze me up to wanton breathlessness. And that’s quite enough to get a gal into real serious up-in-smoke trouble (all confessions deleted here).
Trouble, yep. Thank the goddesses and gods, this is only a picture. March madness is upon me. No, not basketball. Unless, I was star-blinked onto Mt. Olympus, and found myself suddenly engaged in court-dribbling, battle-of-the-sexes combat with that very bad boy in black leather pictured above.
Talk about and swoon over power, power as an aphrodisiac. The power of a god is pure sexual ambrosia.
Yet, like Xena, my fantasy attraction was also a love-hate breathlessness. There was just something about Ares, the god of war, that held me utterly desire-entranced at times, something ‘that did it’. Dark and dangerous, the ability to scorch a woman to such desire, the top of Mr. Olympus would be as nothing in comparison. And...the desire to love a man-god who obviously needed real love, the bad boy redeemed – in fierce conflict with my hatred, a savage hate for the god’s careless arrogant brutality against mere mortals, against humanity.
So, in the end, like Xena, I would be saying ‘no’, more than ‘yes’ to this gorgeous god of war – the love of humanity triumphant in my heart as it was for Xena, Warrior Princess.
So, would you succumb to the god of war? As Xena was tempted, as I was tempted...?
Draxen Z of the Venture, my hero in Red Lioness Tamed, is not the dark god of war, unless he fights to save his woman, or his family. Yep, he possesses that irresistible, take-charge charm and he’s enough of a ‘bad boy’ to captivate the heroine, despite herself and her fate-ridiculous predicament.
Available from Liquid Silver Books.

In contrast to the dark brutal rule of Ares over the mortal realm, Baron Zaggry Dhio Vettura, my hero in All Shades of Blue Paradise, is golden cougar in his fierce-ruling nature, as he battles the court intrigues designed to gain ultimate power in the Realm, and ruin him by destroying his heart.
Available March 10 from Siren Publishing.
