Our HIdden Past: Did Mankind START in Australia?

Conventional scientific wisdom has it that mankind originated in Africa and migrated from that continent throughout the world. This week on Dreamland we explore the competing theory that the origin of Homo Sapiens actually took place in Australia, not Africa.

Seconds before the knife would have stabbed into his side, Drev deflected it. He barely heard the clattering sound as the blade hit the glistening marble beneath his feet. 

"Knife!" Keina screamed. "Do something." 

He and Tretorff lunged at each other. Like stallions fighting over a mare, their chests crashed together. The collision resounded throughout the courtyard. 

They locked arms and planted their feet, both of them enraged titans shoving against each other. As Drev sought the advantage—wanting to throw the royal ass on his horse-shifter ass real fast—he realized Tretorff channeled his equine power. That somehow being in his own realm increased the Prince's strength, beyond when they'd first fought each other. 

However, the oxygen in his Keina's world far surpassed Earth. The advantageous effects super-fueled him. 

Pretzeled together, he and the odious Prince strained mightily against one other— two oak trees fighting for the same spot. 

"No. You will not interfere." Drev heard the King sternly command the Prince's cohorts. "Retrieve the knife. Bring it to me at once."

Drev squeezed ever tighter, using the image, then tapping into the essence of Wolf Peak's own boa constrictor shifter, Lando. Anything to enhance his ability. Once, Drev had observed the monstrous snake drop from a tree branch, rapidly coil around a tiger ninja's neck, then spiral around his chest. 

The cat-beast shifter had gone to the dark side, and was threatening Lando's lover, Rilessa, a red corn snake shifter. Despite the ninja's manic gyrations, and his attempt to transform to shadow, Lando ruthlessly crushed him until the brute of a tiger lay limp—but not quite dead. 

Still calling on Lando's power signature, Drev's arms strengthened. The a-hole prince's ribs compressed enough to restrict his breathing. With a coughing grunt, the stallion shifter yielded, his clamped arms releasing Drev. 

Tretorff twisted powerfully to one side, kicking Drev's stomach like a mule. Psi-sensing the attack, Drev rolled avoiding the full force of the hoof strike. 

Launching to his feet, Drev whipped around. With all of his might, he ploughed his fist into the bastard prince's jaw, just as a hoof grazed the side of his face. 

Tretorff reeled backward, but sprang as Drev shot his fist into the prince's solar plexus. Landing the blow squarely, Drev followed with a fist-sidewinder to his temple. Simultaneously, the horse shifter kneed his groin.

Before she opened the door entirely, Seneca peeked around the edge. The glisten of her bright sky eyes galloped over him. Recognizing him, she opened the door, her gaze meeting his without an ounce of pretense. Still, speculation flickered in their depths. Trail had decided a long time ago her eyes were a type of magic he wanted to explore. However, that could not be his destiny.

“Howdy, Seneca. I’m looking for a job. Mandy saw your ad for a hired hand until your brother can get back on his feet again. I’m applyin’.” He tried a small grin that he hoped looked more friendly than saying, “I want to grab your fine round ass and plunder your mouth until you melt against me.”

“Trail, is it?” She stepped outside, letting the door slam closed. Raising her chin, she eyed him almost fiercely and crossed her arms beneath her plump perky breasts. Hell, she rarely wore a bra, and now her nipples poked her flannel shirt, he knew not for him. The morning chill hadn’t been dispelled by the sun’s ferocious heat yet.

“Yes, ma’am. That’s my handle.”

“Why Trail?” Her tone interrogated him, even though her brows raised revealing her curiosity.

“End of the ” He paused, hoping for an amused glint in her eyes. Nothing. “As in, end of the trail.” Still nothing. “This is where I make my home, end-of-the-trail,” he added.

Trail had the wild urge to grab off his hat and finger the brim nervously like he’d seen in the old western movies he’d watched over and over. Yep, a filly like her would sooner kick his flanks, then race past him. That is, unless he minded his manners.
