Not Where Stockings Are Hung 

Kaily had swiftly made up an excuse about helping her nephew with his reading lessons. Then she'd offered to take care of Davie, so her sister and her husband could enjoy a movie labeled 'adult', instead of pg-13 Disney. 

Knowing she didn't have any good information to offer him about the mansion, Kaily had chickened out 'squawk, squawk' big time. Oh yeah, right--she could just see herself, staring at the hunk o'licious mystery man while attempting to ask tricky leading questions like a TV-show prosecutor. 

Hell, if she'd been as talented as the character Alan Shore on ''Boston Legal" , Kaily would have given it a shot. Or, if she'd had any talent at subtly seducing a man, which she didn't, she would have wriggled into her tightest cashmere sweater, the pink one that hugged her breasts to perfection, and also generously exposed her bosom. 

She would have tugged on her shortest, sorta decent skirt...but because of her untalented, lost-her-nerve cowardice that ship sailed into the sunset of lost opportunity. No, she'd shown up just as her parents were glad-handing him on his way out the door...and as they all chuckled over 'what exactly' she never knew. 

Giving Dylan an over-bright smile, she'd nervously fiddled with her necklace, made up something about Davie's progress, then wished him a 'good evening'. However, he'd fastened his gaze on her face, his unusually colored eyes--like an expensive brandy she'd once sipped--had gleamed with interest. 

With his gaze penetrating through her defenses, Kaily had been caught. He'd asked about her latest painting. She'd blurted out it was close to being finished, and the logo company was eager to start printing up the T-shirts and sweatshirts. 

Somehow Kaily found herself walking beside him to his roadster, a stunning reproduction. Embarrassed because she knew the sound of his engine better than her own, Kaily asked herself...really, when, how had she morphed into a crazed man stalker?
